Coronavirus rules are still in place, but there are hopes that you can invite people into your homes within the next few months. Some of you may be excited by this news, while others are a little pensive. It’s normal to feel worried after all this time, but you really shouldn’t feel scared at all. As long as you prepare properly, your home can be a safe place for you and your friends to meet – when the time is right.

Keeping that in mind, here are some things you can do around the home to prepare it for guests:

Clean everything

First and foremost, undergo an extensive cleaning of your home. The virus doesn’t spread that much from people touching contaminated surfaces, but it still spreads! The cleaner your home is, the less chance there will be that you accidentally give someone a virus. Plus, it’s an excuse to have a big clearout and get your home in shape for guests. The cleaning and disinfecting is just a bonus added to this!

Provide hand sanitizer

You should know by now that washing your hands and keeping them clean really helps control the spread of the virus. So, if you haven’t already, get some high-quality hand sanitizer to provide for guests. Brands like Zylast are always good as they use alcohol-based products that kill a large number of germs and bacteria. At the same time, they also contain moisturizing ingredients so your hands – and those of your guests – don’t get sore and dry. Offering hand sanitizer at the door – or placing some at different places in your house – can be really useful at keeping everyone safe.

Socially distance yourselves

If you’re not ready to commit to close contact, don’t! When you feel comfortable inviting people to your home – and it’s allowed – make sure everyone socially distances themselves. You don’t have to be close together on the sofa to have fun; a bit of distance never harmed anyone. It’s a simple step, but one that can make everyone feel a bit safer.

Stay outside

Furthermore, if you want to keep the gathering as safe as possible, it’s better to conduct things outside. Speak to your guests in the garden and spend the whole time enjoying the lovely weather. It means you can still chat and catch up with people you haven’t seen for months, but there’s less of a risk because you’re outside. The virus doesn’t cope well outdoors, so this is by far and away the safest possible idea.

Remember, you don’t have to instantly invite people over the moment you’re allowed to do so. It’s entirely your choice, but if you do choose to do it, then try to stay as safe as possible. There’s a worry that people might go a bit crazy and the virus starts spreading again. But, with many vaccinations rolling out, hopefully, a little bit of common sense can help put an end to all of this. Use the advice above as something of a guideline to prepare for having guests around once more.
