Few have invested more time and energy in Horry County than Shannon Grady. Tonight, she announced her campaign to run for Horry County Council District 8. The primary will be held June 14th.

The Horry County District 8 seat became open when incumbent Johnny Vaught decided to run for Horry County Council Chairman.

Horry County District 8 runs from Forestbrook west to Conway, S.C.

Grady will face off against Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce supported candidates Brandon Skipper and Michael Masciarelli.

Skipper said he started thinking about running for county council while working with the Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce’s ambassador program, which provides mentorship to chamber members.

Michael “Mikey Mash” Masciarelli, is both an experienced Realtor and businessman with multiple certifications from Listing and Marketing Specialist, Resorts/Second Homes/Investment Property Specialist to several certifications involving land, agricultural, commercial, wetland, farming and development.  Masciarelli is the perfect stereotype of the kind of candidates MBACC prefers.

Grady is well known for her time serving at the head of the Horry County Republicans Women’s Club. Through her leadership, the group became among the fastest growing Republican organizations in the state.
