As most all other major media have now published, including the Sun News, MyrtleBeachSC News can confirm that Surfside Beach Town Councilman Bruce Dietrich, 67, was booked into J. Reuben Long Detention Center Sunday night, according to the jail’s website.

Dietrich was booked into jail around 11 p.m. Sunday and was released by 11 a.m. Monday morning on a $1,000 personal recognizance bond. A personal recognizance bond is a no-cost bail and a promise that the suspect will appear at all court hearings.

MyrtleBeachSC News has documented Councilman Dietrich’s ongoing struggles with alcoholism over the past few years.

We wish Councilman Dietrich well as he continues to seek help fighting this disease.

Surfside Beach continues to be one of the bright spots along the Grand Strand.

The tight knit community continues to experience stability and solid government support for now the past few years.
