Last night, Former Mayor Mark McBride went on the record officially endorsing Gene Ho for Mayor of Myrtle Beach.

City of Myrtle Beach residents vote today for Mayor and City Council.

Within minutes of that endorsement McBride’s personal page was shut down by Facebook for suspicious activity. Sources close to the campaign inform us that over 30 Fake Facebook accounts supposedly owned or managed by Walter Whetsell reported the page as suspicious.

Whenever such reports come in bulk like these at once, Facebook automatically defaults to suspending the account.

This is not a first time event.

After Mayor Bethune went on record two weeks ago stating that underage children should have the right to determine the sex of their own choice,

Moms In Action leader Karon Mitchell organized local legislators Representative Cezar McKnight and Representative Jonathan Hill in a press conference at the Ted C. Collins building.

Minutes after this press conference began, Mitchell discovered her Facebook account was also suspended for supposed “suspicious activity”.

After last night’s online drama, local resident John Gallman also went on the record stating that Horry County residents must protect our children.

We shall see if the Whetsell/Bethune team attempts to leverage Facebook through fake accounts to have his personal page shut down as well.

Election laws currently on the books consider using Fake Accounts to interfere with local elections a Federal Election Law offense.
