Horry County Fire Rescue reported that one person was injured in an explosion and fire at Lakewood Camping Resort in Surfside Beach on Wednesday night.

According to HCFR, which was dispatched at 10:35 p.m. to the 5000 block of S. Kings Highway, one camper was destroyed and two others damaged.

One person was taken to the hospital, but their condition has not been revealed.

According to Horry County Fire Rescue, the investigation is still ongoing and could take one to two weeks to complete.

Surfside Beach Fire Department and Horry County Police assisted at the scene.
