S.C. Senator Hugh Leatherman may be the most powerful man in the State of S.C., but he was not able to overcome resident resistance to re-appointing his son-in-law to another term on the S.C. D.O.T.
John Hardee, Leatherman’s son-in-law, served on the S.C. D.O.T. from 1997 to 2008 and again from 2013 to 2018.
The Governor received over 2,000 emails in 12 days demanding he not re-appoint Hardee, a long time government insider.
